Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

The Journal of Integrated Sciences (JIS) is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal’s policies address originality, plagiarism, authorship, research misconduct, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, complaints, corrections, and retractions, and are aligned, where applicable, with the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that submitted work is original and represents their own scholarly contribution. The work and ideas of others must be properly acknowledged and appropriately referenced.

Authors must avoid self-plagiarism, including substantial reuse of previously published material without appropriate acknowledgment or justification.

Multiple and Duplicate Submissions

A manuscript submitted to JIS must not be under consideration by another journal at the same time. Submitting substantially similar manuscripts to multiple journals simultaneously is considered unethical and unacceptable.

Salami publication, whereby the results of a single study are inappropriately divided into multiple publications, is not permitted.

Research Misconduct and Data Integrity

Authors are expected to present their research accurately and responsibly. Misrepresentation or misinterpretation of research findings may undermine trust in the scholarly record and adversely affect the credibility of both the authors and the wider academic community.

Fabrication, falsification, manipulation, or inappropriate alteration of data, images, figures, or other research materials is strictly prohibited. Authors must not provide false, misleading, or deliberately inaccurate descriptions or interpretations of their research.

Authorship

The list of authors should accurately reflect who contributed to the work and how. All individuals listed as authors should meet the following authorship criteria:

• Have made substantial contributions to the conception and design of the study, acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data.
• Have been involved in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
• Have given final approval of the version to be published.
• Have agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

Prior to submission, all authors should agree on the order in which their names will appear in the manuscript.

At the time of submission, authors must confirm that the authorship, corresponding author, and order of authorship accurately reflect the contributions to the work. Following acceptance, changes to authorship or author order will generally not be considered.

Any request to add or remove an author during the revision process must be accompanied by a clear justification and a description of the relevant author's contribution. JIS may request additional documentation before considering such a request.

Conflict of Interest

Authors are required to provide a conflict-of-interest statement during the submission process. The submitting author should liaise with all co-authors to ensure agreement with the final statement.

Authors must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.

Research Data and Supporting Documentation

Authors must, upon reasonable request, provide relevant supporting documentation or research data necessary to verify the authenticity and integrity of their findings. Such materials may include raw data, research records, samples, or other supporting documentation.

Authors must ensure that confidential, proprietary, or personally identifiable information is not disclosed when providing such materials.
